Genoa

Ferrari Square in Genoa is probably the best place to start a walk from to see the city. There are many museums here but apart from the usual kind they have one which is all about jazz. The Italian people love jazz.
The Old City of Genoa gives you a feel of what it was like in times long ago. It’s a maze of cobbled streets and alleys. In here you can find the World Cultures Museum displaying objects from all over the world. There are interesting art museums and other attractions in the Old City.
We found a great trattorie in the Old Quarter and it’s also a favourite with the local people too. The seafood is out of this world, as is everything else they serve, fish, steak, spaghetti etc. You can only ever eat very well in Genoa.
The nightlife in Genoa is pretty good. Perhaps better to stay in well populated areas late at night. There are busy wine bars where you can also have a late night meal.
We also found a very popular coffeehouse/bar in the Old Quarter selling coffee and sandwiches as well as wine and spirits. Lots of students use this place so as you would imagine the prices are not too bad.
Genoa has a very good Aquarium at the old port and Museum of the Sea and a Submarine Museum too. This is also the birthplace of Christopher Columbus. His house can be seen and a monument in his honour.
